Gmail Setup
Connect your Gmail or Google Workspace email to automatically create tickets from incoming messages.
Prerequisites
- A Gmail or Google Workspace email account
- Admin access to your Tiketti organization
Personal Gmail accounts can connect directly using Google’s OAuth flow.
Google Workspace accounts may require admin approval for third-party apps. Check with your Workspace admin if you encounter permission errors.
Connection Steps
-
Navigate to mailbox settings
Go to Settings → Mailboxes in your Tiketti dashboard.
-
Add a new mailbox
Click Add Mailbox and select Gmail / Google Workspace.
-
Authorize with Google
Click Connect with Google. You’ll be redirected to Google’s sign-in page.
-
Grant permissions
Review the permissions Tiketti requests:
- Read emails: To fetch incoming messages
- Send emails: To send replies on your behalf
- Manage labels: To mark processed emails (optional)
Click Allow to grant access.
-
Configure mailbox options
After connecting, configure:
- Display name: How the mailbox appears in Tiketti
- Sync folder: Usually “INBOX”
- Auto-archive: Move processed emails to a folder
-
Test the connection
Click Test Connection to verify everything works.
Permissions Explained
| Permission | Why It’s Needed |
|---|---|
gmail.readonly | Read incoming emails to create tickets |
gmail.send | Send replies to customers |
gmail.modify | Mark emails as read, move to folders |
Google Workspace Setup
For Google Workspace organizations, you may need to:
Option 1: User-level Authorization
Each user connects their own mailbox. No admin setup required.
Option 2: Domain-wide Delegation (Advanced)
For centralized control, Workspace admins can set up domain-wide delegation:
- Go to Google Admin Console → Security → API Controls
- Click Manage Domain Wide Delegation
- Add Tiketti’s client ID with the required scopes
- Users can then connect without individual authorization prompts
Troubleshooting
”Access Denied” Error
- Ensure you’re signing in with the correct Google account
- Check if your Workspace admin has blocked third-party apps
- Try disconnecting and reconnecting the mailbox
Emails Not Syncing
- Verify the mailbox is enabled in Tiketti settings
- Check the sync folder is set correctly (usually “INBOX”)
- Trigger a manual sync from mailbox settings
”Token Expired” Error
OAuth tokens expire periodically. Tiketti refreshes them automatically, but if you see this error:
- Go to Settings → Mailboxes
- Click Reconnect on the affected mailbox
- Complete the OAuth flow again
Security Best Practices
- Use a dedicated support email rather than personal accounts
- Regularly review connected apps in your Google Account settings
- Consider using Google Workspace for audit logging
